testing ducts for drafts

Marc Simon has been a certified HERS rater since 2010. Prior to that I had been a building contractor specializing in energy efficient construction going back to the early 1980s. Many of the practices that are now commonplace in house construction are things that we’ve been doing going back that far.

We appreciate the challenges of changing codes and regulations, and work hard at keeping up with the changing code requirements and breaking it down to make the requirements clear and easy to understand.

Today’s home buyers are very sophisticated with a wealth of information at their fingertips. HERS ratings were developed as a way of distinguishing energy efficient homes from the market at large. Upon completion a HERS rating sticker is attached to the homes electrical panel indicating the homes level of energy efficiency. This can be both a point of pride for the new homeowner, plus a feature at the time of resale.
